Response to The Sandbox

    The Sandbox by Edward Albee is the first and only piece of literature that I did not really enjoy reading. I do not doubt its impact or importance in expressing its theme. In fact, I find The Sandbox’s theme of “The American Dream” very apparent and very easily understood. The Sandbox even does a fairly well job in explaining this theme. However, where The Sandbox falters, in my opinion, is its lack of reality. The simple fact is, this is a play that mixes traditional and non-traditional dramatic reality, but it doesn’t seem to be
