In the past half century, no baseball player has captivated America like Pete Rose. His ability to connect with the baseball and his diversity in the field has ensured his placement as one of the greatest players of all time. Yet this extraordinary talent is being denied access to the National Baseball Hall of Fame because of a gambling incident occuring during his career. Pete Rose should be recognized in the baseball Hall of Fame based on his accomplishments as a baseball player.
In 1989, Baseball Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti announced an investigation of Pete Rose’s gambling activities. According to the commisioner, Pete Rose was in violation of Major League Baseball’s Rule 21.
