Movie anaylsis of S.W.A.T
In the opening bank robbery scene the director uses parallel editing in this scene. Cross-cut editing was used to show the simultaneous events in this first action scene. In this scene you have the robbers outside of the bank, the police out front of the bank and the S.W.A.T. team going into the bank. You first see what is going on in the bank with the robbers, and then you are taken outside where the police are in a gunfight with the robbers outside. Then you see another shot of the S.W.A.T team entering the bank. All of these shots are alternating to give the audience the idea that all these things are happening at once. This scene probably lasted 30 minutes but with juxtaposing these shots it intensified the suspense and action and also reduced the time.
Another example of editing seen in S.W.A.T is cutting to continuity. In this scene Hondo (Samuel L. Jackson)
