“Nisa” by Marjorie Shostak, describes the life a !kung woman, a life span of nearly 50 years. The book was written during the 1970's, while Shostak was interviewing !Kung women for her research. Nisa was just one of those women, but her story captivated Shostak, making her wrtie the book. Mostly told by Nisa herself, Shostak writes introductions to every chapter, then lets Nisa tell her story in her own language, more or less. As I was reading the book, I became aware of the huge differences between the different cultures in the matter of a mother and her baby. I knew this would be one of my topics for the paper.
