Koranic View of Women
Throughout history, the female gender has been looked down upon as the inferior of the sexes and denied their equal rights. This trend is present throughout the world in many forms of culture and religion. The Bible depicts Eve as the weaker of the sexes in the catholic book of beliefs. The Koran also displays a distasteful view of women as well. The Koranic attitude towards women is one of resentment and inequality. This is where the Islamic religion got their view that women are the lesser of the sexes, as we sometimes still see today in this rich and thriving religion.
In The Koran, Sura four is solely devoted to speaking out against women and showing that women are to be owned and controlled by man. There are several parts in this Sura, which could lead one to believe that women possess the rights equal to men, but the negative attitude outweighs the positive in many people’s minds. Take these few lines in to context from this Sura: “ Give orphans (girls) the property which belongs to them. Do not exchange their valuables for worthless things or cheat them of their possessions; for this would surely be a great sin. If you fear that you cannot treat orphans with fairness then you may marry other wom
