Ivan Pavlov, was a Russian physiologist whose research on the physiology of digestion led to the development of the first experimental model of learning, Classical Conditioning. His father, Peter Dmitrievich Pavlov, was the village priest, as a young boy Ivan was found more often on church property. He began school at the Ryazan Ecclesiastical High School, he eventually entered the Ryazan Ecclesiastical Seminary. At the Seminary, he planned to follow his carrer in theology. However, after being introduced to the work of Charles Darwin, Alfred Wallace, and Ivan Sechenov, Palvov decided to transfer to the University of St. Petersburg to gain more knowledge about natural science. In 1875, Pavlov graduated from the University and received his degree of Candiadate of Natural Sciences.
