And Then There Where Three
First Paragraph
I remember the night like it was yesterday. The rain was coming down heavily, which was perfect, being April. I was lying in a hospital bed and had been since six that evening. The nurse was floating in and out every so often to check on me. Nothing was changing much, except that I was getting very fatigued as I watched the clock tick, tick, tick. I was watching television to help pass the time, while my husband, my sister, my father and stepmother carried on their conversations. Around midnight a specialized doctor came in to give me a shot that would hopefully ease my pain, but I wasn’t too convinced. He was a very irritable man, which I later learned was because he had been asleep when the nurse called him in. Lucky for me, that didn’t affect how he performed his job that night. I received the shot and went back to just lying in bed with not a whole lot to do. Everyone was trying to rest his or her eyes and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t fall asleep.
