In Sigmund Freud’s book, The Interpretation of Dreams, he presents facts that he discovered in the study of his own dreams as well as others. “Freud found the libido of a person to be the mind's energy and determined that it is often associated with one's sexual drive.” Freud also discusses the statement, “dreams are the royal road the Unconscious,” this is the securest foundation of psychoanalysis. In The Interpretation of Dreams Freud also explores how dreams are more complex than just imaginary wish fulfillments, but rather “disguised expressions of fulfillments that have to be decoded. Dreams need to be decoded because of a process called dream work; condensation, displacement, dramatization, symbolization, and secondary elaboration.
