Vincent Van Gogh: Master of Impressionism
He was and is a world renowned painter, church leader, art dealer, lover of long walks and letters to friends. Does this sound like an ad for eharmony.com? It’s Vincent Van Gogh, one of the first impressionist painters. He lived a short life, riddled with mental imbalance and wrought with question. One thing could not be questioned, however, was his undeniable talent.
Vincent van Gogh was born on March thirtieth, eighteen-fifty-three in the small town of Groot Zundert in the Netherlands. He was a quiet, clever child, but school simply did not hold the young fellow’s attention. He ended up going straight into the family business: art dealing. Young Vincent had always had a great appreciation for the arts, and quickly found himself living comfortably outside of the Hague, where he worked for his Uncle’s firm, Goupil & Cie.
Van Gogh had come from a rather religious family and soon his interest was not in his work, but with the church. He had a go at a minister’s academy, but he didn’t quite make the cut. He did, however, manage to convince the
