Victimless Crimes

    Victimless crimes are simply defined as a crime having no victim. I believe the laws against victimless crimes are not direct threats to the privacy of individuals. On the contrary the laws help protect the existing right we have as individual and help assure a civilized society. In criminalizing certain acts, society makes a judgment that there can be no privacy interest in those acts. These acts of self abuse are destructive. These crimes erode the systems of ethics’ and morals in the fabric of our society. I must point out that while I agree with many of the laws against victimless crimes I do not agree with them all. A few of the laws I will justify are drug prohibition, alcohol and tobacco prohibition, and nudity prohibition. Drug prohibition is for the welfare of society as a whole. I can speak from experience on drug use and abuse. After prolonged drug uses of any kind the user is going to become addicted. Addiction causes people to go to any length to get there drug of chooses. Drugs are not cheap. People lie, steal, and manipulate. They sell there children’s toys and rob from there piggy banks. Where would this leave our nation if drugs are legalized? If people could freely buy and sell drugs our nation would be
