America's Youth Flocks to Jam Band Scene
Are you tired of the tired American music scene induced by such joy kills as MTV and poppy radio stations? If so, you may need to get into a different kind of groove. Jam bands are sweeping the nations, thank God. Although some purist heads are enraged that jam bands are on the verge of being popular, jam bands bring back the original intent behind the idea of a band, which is good for the American music scene to experience. Their promotional efforts are not commercial, flashy, sexy, or florescent. Jam bands rely a lot on raw talent, word of mouth, and also the taping of their shows to get word out, or as Ben Ellman of the New Orleans based jam band ‘Galactic’ states, “(we focus on) less commercialism and more attention to playing live instead of selling records. People like to see that sort of honesty in music” (Aiges, 1). The following
