Throughout our life everyone will eventually have to make a huge decisions. For some, it could be to go away to college, for others, whether or not to take a new job out of state. What
decision most people don’t have to make is probably one of the toughest decisions possible,
whether or not to destroy a human life. In1973, in the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade, the
United states supreme court ruled that the fourteenth amendment to the United States
constitution provided a fundamental right for women to obtain abortions (“Abortion Overview”).
Since 1973, there have been over 45 million abortions in the United States alone (“Abortion in the United States”) making abortion one of the most frequently performed operations in America
(Roleff 16). Becky Smith, a school teacher in Virginia said, “The weekend before I started
teaching me and my boyfriend broke up and he moved to the other side of the state. And just
when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, I found out I was pregnant on my first day of school.
The choice to make was clear. I have never once regretted my decision. For one of the first times
in my life, I felt that I had taken control of my life and my circumstances, and felt
