“He was as tall as a young tree, lithe, immensely strong, able swiftly to draw a great war-bow and shoot down a Nazgul, endowed with the tremendous vitality of Elvish bodies, so hard and resistant to hurt that he went only in light shoes, over rocks or through snow, the most tireless of all the Fellowship” (Tolkein, Book of Lost Tales pg. 3333). These reasons, as well as many others, are why I chose the character Legolas Greenleaf as my hero. Heroic traits that Leoglas demonstrates throughout the Lord of the Rings trilogy include: loyalty, courageousness and his swift nature.
