Censorship and Music
Censorship: supervision and control of the information and ideas that are circulated among the people within a society. Music is one of the most largely censored areas of self expressed ideas, be they true or fictional, the ideas expressed by artists/musicians will always be judged by the ideals they hold true or appear to represent. Censorship is a useful tool when used in moderation, but what we choose to listen to should be our decision and ours alone, and not left up to a group of uptight individuals and over protective parents. Shielding today’s kids from today’s music is not the answer to preventing "troubled youth" if anything it adds to the problem by forcing the kids to shatter their parents rule and over protective nature. An understanding of today’s music is what's needed, and what music means to the artists who make it. The majority of music out today relates to the problems youth have and it helps them cope and put their problems at ease.
