Essay on Suicide
Suicide is a deliberate self killing and is one of the most private acts anyone can do. In todays world dying is a voluntary choice which each individual has. Many people have different opinions on the morality of suicide. In this essay I will value the worth of different opinions and come to a conclusion on the rightness or wrongness of suicide. In this essay I will look at suicide and the sanctity of life. Sanctity is the value of life. The value of life is the highest of all values and therefore no other possible values can change this.
At present suicide is a sin and the church teaches this. The church argues against suicide by saying that we are not the owners of our lives and because of this we are ‘obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor’. However the ability to reason is God-given and therefore because of this ability we are able to come to the conclusion on whether or not suicide is acceptable.
