Okonkwo's Character Traits in Things Fall Apart

    Okonkwo is a very uneasy person, who’s very hard to get along with. He is the type of person who only cares about his self, the power that he holds within his family, and what people of Umuofia think of him. Reading about him throughout this story, I realized that he is a lot like our president today, President Bush. Bush and Okonkwo both show themselves Bush and Okonkwo both show themselves as leaders and both seem to want to be known for what they’ve done, not the type of person that they really are deep within. They are not only leaders, but they are actually the head of their large families, although Okonkwo’s family is tremendously larger than Bush’s. One thing about Bush that is greater and stands out a lot more than Okonkwo, is that Bush shows and expresses his feeling to and toward his family in action, more so than Okonkwo. In this time, Bush as brought on and leading war, and in the novel Okonkwo tries to lead the men he is imprisoned with, but he just can’t really get a grasp of it. Lastly another trait that Okonkwo and Bush share is the power to do what they want, when they want, and how they want. All of this is possible because of their label and the titles that they withhold. Nwoye Nwoye is Okonkwoâ
