Frederick Taylor-The Father of Modern Management
Frederick Taylor is the father of modern management. Perhaps I think that he is the only person who actually understood the scientific management and had an impact on management service. His book “The Principles of Scientific Management “ laid the foundation of modern organization. Before writing this book he was an engineer for a steel company. While working, his goal was to find the most efficient way to perform specific tasks. He closely watched how work was done and would then measure the quantity produced. In my paper I will be explaining some of the problems, which he observes, and his solutions to those problems.
At his time, a typical manager would have a very little contact with his workers. One person i.e. the supervisor would get the responsibility to supervise the workers. Worker under such conditions would work in their own way and pace. They never used to work in collaboration.
