America’s Guilty Pleasure
“Everywhere I go, everyone’s playing solitaire” (Brewer 1). Many people are addicted to it. Personally, every time I get on the computer I seem to find it necessary to play at least one game of solitaire. It is not even to just play one game, but win one game. Numerous people would be lying if they didn’t agree. I feel that who ever first thought to put solitaire on a computer thought of it as some sick joke to get people fired. From personal experience, I have seen how computer solitaire has caused people problems. Solitaire causes people to lose jobs, be embarrassed by others, as well as causes students not to learn.
I can recall my freshman year in English class, my teacher, who shall remain nameless, would often give us what we considered busy work. We would have to do vocabulary in small groups or do work from grammar books. My teacher would then go sit down at her computer and “work” there for the rest of the period; this often bothered me. Out of curiosity, I decided to see what she was doing. I proceeded to walk
