Nuclear Proliferation
With the use of the atomic bomb on the Japanese at the end of WWII our world has been plagued with the threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD.) Only now in 2003, the threats are much greater and the countries with the technology are not only our allies but now our enemies as well. Chemical weapons, Biological weapons, Nuclear weapons even air planes are being used to kill people on the other side of the earth, our neighbors and even the citizens of our own countries. Despite efforts to deter the threats they have only become more real to us, the only way to ease this threat is to stop it at the source. The proliferation of WMD should strictly monitor and limit, through a revised version of the Non-Proliferation treaty (NPT). The NPT should be re-written to include all types of WMD (Which would include the text of both the Chemical Weapons Convention [CWC] and Biological Weapons Convention [BWC]) and provide harsh consequences if it is not strictly followed.
