Of Mice And Men Reflection

My interpretation of the book is that friendship will conquer all. It seemed to me that George was always afraid to show his true colors and his true feelings. I thought that he was always hiding what he really felt. An example of this is on page 106, “’No,’ George said, ‘No, Lennie. I ain't mad. I ain't never been mad, an’ I ain’t now. That’s the thing I want ya to know.’” When George said this it showed me that he was hiding the fact that he wasn’t mad before. I think the reason he does this is because he wants to have someone to, somewhat, be in charge of. He doesn’t want to show any type of weakness in front of Lennie in hopes that one day he’ll be able to handle himself. He hopes Lennie will become better because of it. I think that it’s not only the fact that he wants to be in charge, but also that he wants to prepare Lennie for the world. He wanted the best for Lennie when he shot him. He didn’t want the rest of the workers to have their way and torture Lennie. The friendship he had with Lennie was so strong
