The Three American Intelligences
In the Simpsons episode “Mr. Lisa goes to Washington,” the cartoonists are portraying American society as having three basic levels of intelligence. America consist of a group of unintelligent people represented by the character Homer. The large mid-section of America is not completely ignorant, yet not extremely intelligent; the mid group can be represented by Marge and Bart. The yop group of Americans are intellectual and represented by Lisa. The top group cancels out with the lower group and creates a fairly intellectual America.
