NCAA Violations
Recently many different universities have come under fire for a wide variety of NCAA violations. This does not sound that uncommon if you are familiar with college basketball. However, the startling thing is that the mistakes of former players and staff are hurting the success of current teams. I am going to focus on a couple of different specific cases. One dates back over ten years ago at the University of Michigan. The other is a very recent problem that has a rose at Baylor University. I hope to demonstrate why what is going on throughout the country is wrong.
The most high profile case of players accepting cash and other gifts happened at the University of Michigan happened over ten years ago but just recently came to light. Ed Martin, a well-known, successful athletic booster at the school, told the federal government that he took gambling money, combined it with other funds, and lent $616,000 to former Wolverine basketball stars Chris Webber, Maurice Taylor, Robert Traylor, and Keith Bullock.
