America's Cup
Yacht racing’s most prestigious event the America’s Cup has a long and fruitful history. What is generally referred to as the America's Cup however, is in fact an umbrella term for two competitions. The Louis Vuitton Cup is the one where the "challengers" race against each other for the chance to compete in the America's Cup. Both events require training and preparation in order to be the winner. The one point that should stressed, is that the America’s Cup competition should not take the form by others as an elitist sporting event.
The Louis Vuitton Challenger Selection Series or better known as the Louis Vuitton Cup is the series where challenging syndicates compete in order to win the Louis Vuitton Cup, and the right to compete against the defender of the America’s Cup. The Louis Vuitton Cup starts off with two Round Robins, where each syndicate will race each of the others once per round. At the end of these two rounds a pecking order based on races won will have been established with the fleet seeded from one to eight. The height first syndicates are qualified for the Quarter Finals.
