Even after having the movie described to me, it couldn't have prepared me for actually seeing this movie. What occurred in this movie is horrific and sad. It is also scary because it went on for so long. Within this film there were many sociological concepts, such as racism, sexism, supremacy and others. All of these terms have a great impact on a person watching this film. Many gender issues arise in this movie, and many of them are tied in with other sociological concepts such as race. There are a few purely gendered issues that arise in this film. One such issue is when the children arrive at the Moore River Native Settlement to learn how to become civilized.
