I. INTRODUCTION
Information security has a long history that can easily be dated back to the early 1900’s. With the increase in threat every year from attacks on businesses’ systems, information security has taken center stage in today’s world. In spite of the rising number of security breaches and viruses in recent years, far too many companies have failed to take appropriate action. Establishing accountability, promoting awareness, protecting of assets, and other tactical steps are needed to combat attacks on information security. Computer viruses, worms, as well as Trojans, can be received through email, files downloaded from the Web, or sent by hackers and can be very harmful to a business. Since the first virus in 1986, many more have shown up, and many more are expected. These viruses can debilitate a business’ production and be expensive to fix. Anti-virus programs were designed to combat the harmful code of viruses and offer businesses a single line of defense. In addition, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, add another layer of protection against intrusion. Perimeter firewalls, as well as embedded firewalls, have different ways of protecting a business from attacks. In
