Comparison of Escher and Picasso
I am going to compare and contrast the life, and artwork of M.C. Escher and Pablo Picasso. When I heard about this assignment I knew that I wanted to write about M.C. Escher. I have always loved his art. I first came across it when I was in my freshman high school art class. I just loved how he made art that seemed impossible. I could look at his work for hours and be amazed. I was not really familiar with Pablo Picasso before coming into Art Orientation this spring. Seeing his artwork in class made me want to learn more about him.
Maurits Cornelis (M.C.) Escher was born on June 17, 1898, in the Dutch province of Friesland. When he went to secondary school, in 1907, his marks were poor except in drawing. His art teacher took and interest in his talent, and taught him to make linoleum cut works. One of his early works was a portrait of his father which is the oldest surviving work by Escher.
Despite his talent in art he wanted to be an architect and went to the Higher Technology School to study architecture. It was found that he didn’t successfully graduate high school and could not continue school. This was a very difficult time for him but he continued to do drawings,
