Huck Finn
Have you ever had a role model that influenced you for the rest of your life? Maybe
that person was your dad, maybe not, however your parents do have a large impact on your life
and are your role model. In Mark Twain’s, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck’s slave,
Jim, in many ways acted like a father to him.
Jim greatly cared for Huck’s safety. For example, when Huck and Jim were sailing down
the river, Jim had thought Huck was dead, but Huck was just sleeping, and Jim woke him up and
said, “you ain’ dead! you’s bak ag’in, thanks to goodness!” (83). Jim really cares about Huck’s
safety as a father would for his son. This is important because Huck and Jim have many more
experiences, which means Jim will look out for Huck and keep him safe. In addition to Jim caring
for Huck, Jim was a better father role model than Huck’s actu
