Spanking
For many reasons, spanking has become one of the most controversial topics surrounding the discipline of children today. First, the definition of spanking is subjective to the perceptions of the person arguing for or against the issue. Therefore, while one person may define spanking as a gentle slap on the hand or buttocks, another person may define spanking as a firm slap to the hand, face, and/or buttocks. Additionally, the debate over spanking involves at least three types of people; those who believe it is always ok to spank a child; those who believe it is ok to spank your child only in response to certain actions; those who think it is never ok to spank a child. In this paper, I will review some reasons parents attribute to the need for spanking, the perceived and true effect
