Electoral College
The Electoral College is the collective name for a group of electors, nominated by political parties within the states and popularly elected, who meet to vote for the president and vice president. This Electoral College was created to protect the people of the United States from themselves. This is very unfair in present time of educated people and instant country wide news. The Electoral College system of electing a president and vice-president needs to be replaced with a method that better represents the will of the American people.
To understand the problem of the Electoral College one must learn about its past starting with why it was created. The Electoral College was created for two reasons. The first purpose was to create a buffer between the population and the selection of the president. The second was part of the structure of the government that gave extra power to the smaller states. The first reason that the founders created the Electoral College is hard to understand today. They were afraid of a direct election to the Presidency.
