Breakdown of The Breakfast Club

    In viewing the movie The Breakfast Club, I observed multiple literary ideas included in this teen masterpiece of the 1980’s. Before I get into my dissection and analysis, I would like to bring to your attention some general but important information about this film. When I think of a movie that succeeds at the box office, I first want to know about the men and women who put the hours in behind the scenes. John Hughes, who has directed other popular and respectable movies such as Weird Science, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, handled the directing and screenplay duties. Along with another brilliant man, Ned Tanen, Hughes also had involvement in producing this movie, and Thomas Del Ruth carried out the cinematography responsibility. Universal Pictures was the driving force behind the distribution of this film in the United States. In an almost concurrent thought, the actors who star in a film are worthy of the same accolades the developers receive. Hughes brilliantly defined the five main roles into strong-minded and dialogue-driven teens.
