Reproductive Cloning
Science, according to the definition given by the dictionary, “is the ability to produce solutions in some problem domain” (Hyperdictionnary, 2003). Human beings have always tried to find solutions to their problems, and examples of those nuisances are illnesses and diseases. Successful in some cases, but still incompetent in other cases genetic diseases constitute, in contemporary times, the major challenge to scientists. Cloning, considered as being one of the most controversial issues in a modern society, consists actually of two major types. Reproductive cloning, “has as its goal the birth of a cloned child”, and therapeutic cloning, “seeks to use cloning technology for medical purposes”. (Debrovner, 2003). Since therapeutic cloning is used for medical purposes, I would encourage scientists to make more researches in this promising field, but at the same time they have to keep attached to their main goal. However, I see reproductive cloning as insulting to humanity, since it shows no respect to ethics and nature.
