Censorship

    Government Censorship Censorship is used throughout the world for books, music, art and on the internet. According to Webster, censorship is “the act or a system of censoring.” In other words censorship is the process of obliteration or removing an item out of context to fit the proper audience. A male dominant society, the demeanor towards children and the act of child abuse should censor the book David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens for schools in grades K through sixth due to the bias inferiority complex perpetuated by men. The novel David Copperfeild was set in the late 1800’s and goes through the life of a young boy maturing in a tormented atmosphere. The novel commences when David is being nurtured only by his mother. She would do everything with him and when he got to go to school his mother, Clara decides to home school him. Then the calamity begins when his mother meets Mr. Murdstone and finally gets married to him. Mr. Murdstone begins to take charge of the activities that happen in the household. For example treating his wife and David with no respect. One reason this novel should be censored is expressed throughout the entire novel. During that time frame, women were thought to be
