Electric Telegraph and the Radio

    In 1825, British inventor William Sturgeon showed a device that placed the basics for large-scale electronic communications, which is the electromagnet. Sturgeon demonstrated the power of his invention by lifting nine pounds with a seven-ounce piece of iron wrapped with wires through which the current of a single cell battery was sent. This was the beginning of using energy that for making practical and handy machines and laid the foundations for an important electronic communications. Years later Joseph Henry made a far more advance version of the electromagnet that introduced the electric telegraph. Later on other scientists where eager on creating a wireless telegraphy, in 1888 German physicist Heinrich Hertz made the sensational discovery of radio waves, a form of electromagnetic radiation.
