    Kobe Earthquake The Japanese topography is full of variety, and establishes the base of beautiful landscapes. Japan has many mountains formed by the active changing of the crust, and Japanese land form is degraded by climatology of the Temperate Zone and much rain. These are the backgrounds of beautiful Japanese landscapes. The Japanese archipelago exists on very complicated crust, and there are no similar examples. There are about ten plate tectonics all over the world (Yonekura 106). Japan is located on the hitting point of four plate tectonics of the ten and these act strongly against each other (Yonekura 106). This causes many natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activities. Japan an insecure environment and a fragile country. There have been many natural disasters in Japan because of an insecure environment. The earthquake is the most serious disaster above all. Earthquakes of more than magnitude 7.0 happened 900 times for 90 years all over the world. 10% of the 900 earthquakes happened in Japan (Yonekura 106).
