Last Judgment
In the larger sense, the period called the Renaissance was based upon a growing appreciation of life in this world, and of the learning for the understanding it could give a person about himself/herself, and the world. Perhaps the most important single influence on the Renaissance was the revived study of classical humanism. First in Florence, and later everywhere in Italy and most of western Europe, eager scholars devoted their lives to studying the possibilities of human knowledge. Michelangelo’s the Last Judgment is a good example of one of the products of Renaissance.
“The second of five brothers, Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475, at Caprese, in Tuscany, to Ludovico di Leonardo di Buonarotto Simoni and Francesca Neri. Buonarroti's mother died young, when the child was only six years old” (Internet).
