Theodore Roosevelt
Did you ever wonder how the teddy bear got its name? Well, I’m here to tell you. Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States of America. A lot of people called him “Teddy” and when he was in office a person gave him a stuffed toy bear which led to the naming of the teddy bear.
He was born in New York City on October 27, 1858. He was always very sick with asthma, which made him weak. He has three siblings, Anna, Elliot and Corinne. He was educated by many private tutors who were in and out of his home in Manhattan. He was the seventh generation of Roosevelt’s to be born in Manhattan and second to four children in his household. He went to Harvard University, and he excelled in boxing and academics. He married Alice Hathaway Lee in 1880. They had a daughter together, Alice, in February 12, 1884. His wife, Alice, died in 1884; two days after giving birth to their daughter. On the same day as Alice died, Theodore’s mother died of Typhoid fever. He was so sad and upset that there is no record of him ever say
