Nightmares
Imagine yourself walking through a forest, then, all of a sudden everything goes dark and a huge monster is chasing you but you cant seem to get out of the forest. The monster keeps getting closer and you just cant find your way…but then, you realize you’re in your own bed and safe at home. This is a typical dream for many people. These dreams filled with fear are called nightmares.
Nightmares are long frightening dreams that lead to awakening. They occur during the REM stage of sleep and are usually remembered vary vividly. Nightmares are remembered more than regular, pleasant dreams. These dreams are mostly called anxiety dreams and can cause many distraught feelings. Most nightmares can cause feelings of anger, guilt, sadness, depression, and fear which is the most common. These emotions can stay with the dreamer for several days after the nightmare. During a nightmare, the heart rate and breathing may increase, but the dreamer will seldom scream get out of bed, or sleep walk. These tend to happen more often in a night terror, which is a more extreme version of a nightmare.
