The concept of Corporatism relates to the “organization of society through the construction of “corporations” subordinate to the state” (Britannica Encyclopaedia Online: 2004). These corporations are political, economic and social organs of the political system in which businessmen and workers are assigned. The term corporatism has its origin in the Italian Corporativismo introduced By Benito Mussolini in 1922. Mussolini considered that Corporativismo was the perfect vehicle for a broad-based and socially harmonious class participation in economic production. From his point of view social class based conflicts avoided real economic growth. But before Mussolini, French theorists developed the basic scheme of Corporatist Theory mainly during the French Revolution in 1789. These original concepts stated the need for the establishment of corporations serving as organs of political representation and controlling to a large extent the persons and activities within their jurisdiction.
