Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby was born as William Henry Cosby Jr. on July 12, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bill is married to the former Camille Hanks. Cosby is known to be an actor, writer, comedian, producer, director, and composer. For nearly four decades, the comedian has starred in and produced Emmy Award-winning TV programs, won Grammy awards for his comedy recordings and written best-selling books. He's made millions of dollars and won over just as many fans in the process.
The Philadelphia native started out as a stand-up comic in the early 1960s. It was during his nightclub circuit period that he made the transition from standup comic to actor. In 1965, he became the first African American to star in a weekly dramatic TV series, I Spy. This co-starring role was instrumental in breaking the racial barriers in television. During the series’ run, Bill earned three Emmy awards for best actor. The actor also went on to The Bill Cosby Show, the first of several sitcoms to incorporate its popular star's name. He also became involved in children's programming, including Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, the animated Saturday-morning show based on his stand-up routines.
