Wonka
The 1972 Warner Brothers movie entitled “ Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory “ we see a prime example of the “ hero “ in film. We also see a perfect example of the stages and journey a hero embarks on to attain that status.
In the film we meet Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who wins a ticket to visit the inside of a mysterious and magical chocolate factory. What he discovers is that the entire visit is more than a wonderful dream come true, but a true test of his character. Charlie is one of five children who come across a “golden ticket” which ensures they’ll be granted a tour of the legendary candy factory. At first, Charlie is led to believe that all the tickets have been accounted for and that he will not get a chance to take the trip. Then, he see’s a news program on television announcing the last ticket was a fraud. Immediately we realize that Charlie will be the winner of the last ticket and he will soon embark on a “call to adventure.”
