Biography of Cilia Cruz
The voice, charisma, and talent of Celia Cruz have given rise to one of the most impressive trajectories in the world of music. To enumerate her all of her profits it would fill a book. Her more than 70 albums have generated an interminable disc harvest of platinum and gold, and she has received more than a hundred awards from prestigious institutions around the world. In 1989, she won the first of her five Grammy Prizes, and she also has received two Latin Grammy Prizes. Celia Cruz obtained three doctorates Honoris Cause from Yale, Florida International University and the University of Miami. In addition, she has participated in 10 films, being The Mambo Kings and the most recent, The Perez Family.
At the age of 14 Celia Cruz already was singing in fan aids in its native city of Havana, Cuba. It studied musical theory, piano and voice in the National Conservatory of Music. In 1950 it began to sing with the set the Matancera Sonant, grouping with which carried out some of the most glorious chapters of afrocubana music, recording an amount of legendary subjects like "Yembe Laroco," "Modern Yerbero," "Burundanga," and "Caramel."
