Political writing according to the American Heritage Dictionary is defined as “of, relating to, or dealing with the structure or affairs of government, politics, or the state” (1015). Politics exist all around us – in our schools, in our workplaces, and in our government. There, whether we are aware of it or not, politics influences our lives today and our dreams for tomorrow. First of all, politics is an activity; it is not a thing, like a rock, something that is simply there. Politics arise in societies made up of different groups, with different interests and traditions. These groups, existing together, on the same territory, or in the same governmental unit, have rival interests that make a common government essential if there is to be any order. One of he main ways America maintains order is by the United States constitution and the Bill of Rights. Another important aspect of politics is that it allows us to have political parties.
