Diazinon
Diazinon was first marketed in 1948 by a company named Novartis (now known as Syngenta)(Ewg.org). It was based and sold from Switzerland. It was also suggested that the name for this compound might be “dimpylate.” However it was later decided that Diazinon would be the stock system name for this substance. What is Diazinon? Diazinon is also known as isopropyl methylpyrimidin phosphorothioate. It is an organophosphate pesticide mxied with Crystalline Silica. So putting aside all big words and synonyms. It is an active ingredient in pesticides/insecticides.

Diazinon is still manufactured primarily by Sygenta, who also specializes in many other repelants and pesticides for agriculture and horticulture. Diazinon is used in pesticides such as “Spectracide”, “Real Kill”, “Ortho”, “Cutter”, “Peters”, “Hot Shots”, “Raid”, and other pest killers (Ewg.org).
It is also sprayed on crops to prevent destruction by animals especially insects and birds. The most common crops that it is used on are Almonds(170,000lbs.), Pecans(85,000lbs), Prunes
