WILLIAM (BILL) H. GATES
Bill Gates born on October 28, 1955, grew up in Seattle, Washington with his mother, father, and two sisters. His father, William H. Gates II, is a Seattle Attorney. His mother, Mary Gates, was a schoolteacher and chairwoman of United Way International. Bill attended public elementary school and a then attended a private school named Lakeside School. There he discovered his interest in software and began programming computers at age 13. In 1973 Bill entered as a freshman at Harvard University. While at Harvard, Bill developed a version of the programming language “BASIC” for the first microcomputer. In his junior year, Bill left Harvard to devote his time to Microsoft, a company he had begun in 1975 with his childhood friend Paul Allen. Starting up Microsoft wasn’t easy.
