How Justice is Demonstrated
What is justice? In Plato’s Republic this very question is put forth as contentious. Plato disputes this question by using a method dialectic – the asking and answering of questions which lead the listener from one point to another, supposedly with irrefutable logic by obtaining agreement to each point before going onto the next, and so building an argument. Justice is looked at as an excellence of character. Its function is to improve human nature, which is a form of goodness that cannot be involved in injuring someone’s character. Justice helps to keep our society from acting out from dissenting from our societies majority view. It helps to keep order and stability to help people to achieve human excellence.
