Was slavery the main cause of the civil war
The Civil war began as a result of conflicting ideals between the North and the South. While the economy of the South heavily depended upon slaves, the economy of the North was almost solely based on industry and therefore relied on the South to buy their goods. With the troubles over the economy both the north and the south were on the verge of explosion. Even though slavery played an important role in the ignition of the Civil War, the fight between the North and the South to gain political equality was the more prominent aspect that caused the Civil War to begin.
