Japanese Legal System
When one mentions or happens to be in hearing range of the
word rape many facial expressions can be observed from the
person who said it to the people who were unfortunate enough to
hear the uttering. Expressions and sentiments of disgust and
anguish flood the faces of those who are the recipients of
hearing such an ill-fated word and usually it sparks heated
debates between males and females who have been socialized to
display different viewpoints specifically those of the limits of
personal space and the meaning of “No” in many intellectual
arenas. Rape has been construed as a tool of sexual aggression
being used frequently by the male gender as a form of showing
power and the ability to subdue women and make them succumb to
his sexual desires. In this analysis of the social phenomena
being labeled rape the following points will effectively
demonstrate; the origins of rape, it’s influence upon modern day
activity, and the mind state held by those who were victims of
this incidence.
Primarily, to thoroughly understand the concept of rape one
