Jim Morrison-Analysis of his Final Poem
Jim Morrison wrote “Paris Journal” shortly before his death on July 3, 1971 and it is a complicated blend of metaphors and symbolism that combines different images with figures of speech. We must sit back and to look at this piece of writing in an objective way because this is the final journal of a complicated writer and poet that was reflecting on his life. Morrison’s poems were not the conventional poems; they were intended not to be revealed in a casual reading. When it was obscure, we have to trust that the poet purposefully made the shell hard to crack. “ Paris Journal” is much more of a mystery because it is such a mystery on how Morrison’s death was so sudden yet rumors persist that he faked his death. It is clear to the reader that the man was searching for peace and solitude in this final writing of a great poet.
“Paris Journal” is a sequence of images made by the author that reflect his life in Paris and emotions that are expressed through anger and deviancy.
