In the following paragraphs that you will be reading, I will be discussing about the disease that I had to research, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever affects about 800 people in the United States each year. This disease usually occurs in the Eastern U.S. from New York to Florida, and from Alabama to Texas in the South. It is most commonly seen from April through September, but it can occur anytime during the year when there is warm weather.
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is an acute, potentially fatal febrile illness caused by an organism that is transmitted by a tick bite. This organism which is found in the infected tick is called Rickettsia Rickettsii.
People with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever will have the symptoms of getting a sudden fever which can last anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks. They also will get sever headaches, tiredness, deep muscle pain, chills, nausea, and a characteristic rash. This rash will begin on the legs or arms, and then can spread to the feet or palms of the hands, and rapidly to the truck or the rest of the body. There may also be some neurologic symptoms, which are, seizure disorders, cortical blindness, central deafness, ataxia, spast
