Speech critique
On November Monday 17, 2003 Arnold Schwarzenegger gave his inaugural speech as the newly sworn in Governor of California. Standing at the podium in his expensive three piece suit with his dutiful wife standing behind him he thanked the citizens for believing in him and giving him a chance to fix some of the damage that has been done to their great state. Schwarzenegger is no stranger to public speaking or facing large crowds of people and his comfortableness showed throughout his acceptance speech.
Schwarzenegger did not have the overwhelming support of the public when it first got out he was interested in politics. The public still saw him as the bodybuilding champion and the ultimate action hero in Hollywood. He had to convince the public that he could do what he set out to do. If there were any doubts in the publics mind before his inauguration speech he brought a few disbelievers to change their tune and give their support.
